    Andrew Buerger
Senior Vice President of Sales Marketing,
    Trail Truffles

Andrew Buerger is an entrepreneur of for-profit and social ventures.

He was the founder of Bmore Organic. The certified B Corporation made organic protein smoothies based on skyr, an Icelandic-style strained yogurt. According to Inc Magazine, it was the 5th fastest growing natural/organic brand in the U.S. two years ago. Bmore Organic had a mission to take a bite out of disease by making a healthy high protein product with no added sugar, and donating 1% of sales the non-profit he created: Jodis Climb for Hope.

Jodis Climb for Hope has gotten over 150 volunteer fundraising climbers safely to summits on four continents, including Mt. Cotopaxi, the worlds highest active volcano at 19,400 feet and Mt. Kilimanjaro.  Other expeditions have included Mt. Rainier, and Pico de Orizaba, Mexicos tallest mountain, and several other active volcanos.

More importantly, the organization has raised over $850,000 for promising research on breast cancer and MS at Baltimores prestigious Johns Hopkins University.

You can see from his education degrees -- he holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Vermont -- that he places a premium on being on the best outdoor locations. His favorite jobs were being a ski instructor and white water rafting guide in Aspen, CO.

He was selected by The Daily Record him twice as one of the 50 Most Influential Marylanders in 2007 for Communications and again in 2017 for Philanthropy. He had been chosen several times by the BBJ as one of Baltimores 40 up & coming leaders under 40.  However, sadly he has long since become ineligible for that award.

He lives in Bmore with his wife Jennifer, two nine-year-olds.

    SPEAKER:
    Ed Norris
Radio Host, Author, former Baltimore Police Commissioner

A Brooklyn, New York native, Ed Norris began his career with the New York Police Department in 1980. During his tenure, he held the positions of Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Inspector, Deputy Chief and Deputy Commissioner of Operations. While with the NYPD, he created the Cold Case Squad that inspired the book, The Restless Sleep: Inside New York City’s Cold Case Squad, and A&E’s television series, “Cold Case Files.”

In 2000, Ed became Police Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department, where his honors included the NAACP President’s Award for police and community relations. Under Ed’s leadership, he improved the policing culture and helped drive homicides below 300 for the first time in many years. In 2002, Ed was appointed Maryland State Police Superintendent.

Ed is a popular American radio personality and actor. He is the cohost of the weekday morning Big Bad Morning Show on CBS WJZ-FM (105.7 The FAN) and is featured on a weekly news segment on Fox 45 TV. Ed is also widely known for his role as Detective Edward Norris on HBO's hit television series, The Wire (2002-2008) as well as the investigator in the movie, Jack the Ripper in America (2009).

Ed became a published author in 2017 with the release of his hardcover book, Way Down in the Hole. Co-written with Baltimore Sun reporter and author Kevin Cowherd, Way Down in the Hole is described by the publisher as "the incredible story of America's most promising cop, the dark forces that brought him down and his long, emotional journey back from the abyss."

Ed Norris was not only a cop’s cop, he was a transparent and personable police commissioner. He will share his personal account of the events that changed his life. This tale of redemption follows Ed from leading a major police department to landing in federal prison, and his regained success of now being a cohost of a Baltimore radio talk show and a frequent voice of policing in America for many major news outlets.
