Catholic Scholar Award

CBNB’s Catholic Scholar Award was established in 2017 and provides tuition assistance to students enrolled in Baltimore area private Catholic high schools.

Students are nominated, anonymously, by their school principal and must demonstrate Catholic values in their actions, academics and leadership, and have financial needs or physical or learning disabilities. The award is presented annually to one male and one female student, and is administered through CBNB’s Donor Advised Fund with the Catholic Community Foundation.

Schools eligible as of 2017 include Calvert Hall College, Cristo Rey, Institute of Notre Dame, Loyola Blakefield, Maryvale Prep, Mercy, Mount de Sales Academy, Mount St. Joseph, Notre Dame Prep, St. Frances Academy and The Catholic High School of Baltimore. Schools will be chosen in alphabetical order and rotate on a yearly alternating basis. The order of participating schools may be adjusted to ensure that one female and one male student are chosen each year.

The principals of the selected schools are asked to nominate a student anonymously. To protect the privacy and dignity of the student, the principal will not have to provide the name of the student or family in the narrative. CBNB will present the cash award to the school, not the student or family, at its Annual Leadership Breakfast in July. The school will apply it to the student’s tuition.
