In the past week we have all experienced so much pain and frustration as we watch events unfold on the nightly news. On the heels of personal and economic hardships stemming from Covid19, the tragic and senseless death of George Floyd has left our nation in a dark place – and left all of us hurting.
Listening to Archbishop Lori’s Pentecost Mass online last weekend, I was struck by how the message of this important feast day resonates for all of us in these turbulent times – regardless of who we are, where we live or how we worship.
In his homily, the Archbishop shared that we are struggling with two pandemics – not just the corona virus, but also “the infectious disease of racism”. Like the Apostles sent forth on that first Pentecost, we are all called to live as people of PEACE, sharing that peace in our homes, in our places of business and in our communities. Over the past year, I know I have talked a lot about being grateful. Well, today more than ever before, I am grateful for YOU – my colleagues and friends in the Catholic Business Network of Baltimore who share a commitment to living as people of FAITH and of PEACE.
Clearly, PRAYER is more important today than ever - and something each of us can do to help make a difference in our world. I invite you to pray for healing in the days ahead. Even more important, I thank you for all that you do each day to be, in the words of Archbishop Lori, “messengers of peace to an ailing world”.
May God continue to bless you and your loved ones with good health, happiness and PEACE.
